The Game Designer is responsible for developing and implementing the overall game concept with regard to every element and level of the game, i.e. its gameplay (rules and prerequisites for producing good gaming experiences) in all its facets (game mechanics, game balance, navigation structures, plot structures, game fiction and player experience) and for ensuring that these all appear in the design of the game universe, game characters and game structure at every level. This is done in close collaboration with the Game Director.
The Game Designer must in collaboration with Game Director, Art Director, Lead Game Programmer and Project Manager develop the concept for the game.
It is the Game Designer’s responsibility that the concept can be turned into gameplay and that this gameplay can be implemented within the scope of the project.
The Game Designer must produce a gameplay design document and in collaboration with Level Designer and Game Programmer implement the design in a game-engine.
The Game Designer works with the Game Director and Project Manager to plan and assess the scope of the work as regards time and resources.
The Game Designer is responsible for the game design related aspects of the design document.
The Game Designer has, in collaboration with Game Director, Art Director, Lead Game Programmer and Project Manager, the responsibility to have the game tested on the target audience.
The Game Designers come from Interactive, Digital Media at Aalborg University, Digital Design at Aarhus University, The IT University of Copenhagen and Medialogy at Aalborg University in both Copenhagen and Aalborg.
