4th annual seminar hosted by MEDIA Desk Denmark and The National Academy of Digital, Interactive Entertainment (DADIU)
Welcome to our seminar that takes a dive into one of the big trends in video games: User Generated Content.
User's generating content (UGC) is a big hit in other parts of the culture with Youtube as the most shining examle. In games UGC is not a new thing - back in the early nineties Doom had a level editor enabling gamers to create their own levels. The Youtube of games already exists in Kongregate where everyone can upload their own game.
Sim's have let you create for years. This month, Media Molecule's game Little Big Planet comes out - giving users an enormous freedom to create and letting them share the created. The new game from Sim creator Will Wright, Spore, also let the users create and share.
We have invited experts in UGC from games companies and academia to tell us more about the possibilities for exploring and developing the content and also new ways of thinking the business plans. Will it be more cost effective to let the users participate in the creation og the game and will creativity survive?
The seminar takes place at the IT University of Copenhagen on October 29th from 9am to 5.30 pm.
