SpilBar 64: Save Point 2025

As 2025 draws to a close, we’d like to take a moment to look back and ahead. So at SpilBar 64, we’ll take stock of what was released this year – and what we can look forward to in the next.

Join us at The Royal Academy on November 27th to witness what we achieved and what the Danish games industry has in store for 2026.

We will welcome four Danish game studios who will talk about their launches in 2025. They will share their experiences, how things went, and what they learned.

Afterwards, we invite anyone interested to take the stage and present a game they’ll release in 2026.
See you there!

Program

16:30 Welcome feat. Jakob Ion Wille (The Royal Academy) & Thomas Vigild (DADIU)

16:35 Real Vampires — Inverse Mechanics, Dark Humor and Light Folk Horror - Trine Laier (Those Eyes)

How can 500 years of authentic accounts of vampirism become meaningful play? Trine Laier presents Real Vampires, a game rooted in newly uncovered Polish and Ukrainian tales of the undead. Through “inverse mechanics” — where failure leads to understanding — folklore comes alive in unexpected, human ways.

16:50 Over the fence and into the fray: Launching Neighbors: Suburban Warfare in Early Access - Andreas Bech (Invisible Walls)

A brief presentation of the activities and thoughts leading up to the Early Access release of Neighbors: Surburban Warfare. What we think worked, what we think didn’t work and what we are still trying to figure out.

17:05 From Thesis to Business - What we did right (and wrong) in making Discounty - Anne Elsborg (Crinklecut Studios)

Nothing’s better than hearing someone with a serious dose of survivorship bias tell you how to repeat their success, but it’s all I know, so I will take you through the journey of how we turned a student project into a profitable business with our first game, Discounty. What did we learn over the past four years, and what would we do differently today?

17:20 Coffee Break

17:35 Mind Diver - Victor Breum (Indoor Sunglasses)

Mind Diver launched in September. One month later, it had 97% positive reviews out of 136 total. I'm overjoyed with the rating, and our sales look to end up in the top 10% of the genre. In this talk I'll discuss commercial expectations, how we studied genre data to accurately estimate sales numbers, and what artistic success means to me. I'll share some secrets, and hopefully rant about art vs. commerce with grandeur and naivety, so we all don't die of number-sickness.

17:50 Quick fire presentations: Upcoming games in 2026

Short max 5 min presentations/trailers.
Please submit your game to the Open Call here - then you will get time on stage and presence at the live showcases at the mingling.
